RoR Anglesey: Race Results
Rob Boston Racing claimed a dominant victory in this year’s rain-hit Race of Remembrance at Anglesey Circuit in North Wales on Remembrance Sunday, 9th November, as 50 teams of military veterans and associates came together in the spirit of camaraderie, competition and reflection.
The annual event, organised by Mission Motorsport, proved as action-packed, exciting and, of course, poignant as ever. After 12 hours of tremendous racing, team-work and fellowship, the No.43 Class D Lotus Elise S1 piloted by Lee Brooks, Ben Brooks and Phil Grayson won by eight laps.
Second overall, victory in Class C, was earned by the Stuart Humphrey Racing Mazda MX5 shared by Martin Rich, Tom Walpole and Humphrey himself. The outright podium was rounded out by Class B winners TrackScotland MINI – the No.55 MINI Cooper raced by Adam Morrison, Craig Dillon, Michael Imrie, Steven Somerville and Adam Kindness.
Other class victors included the No.21 BMW 116 of Anthony Seddon Racing with drivers Hugo Cook, Samuel David Carrington Yates, Alan Corfield and Harry Ormerod, which was sixth overall in winning the BMW exclusive class.
In 19th position overall were the AC1 class victors WRC Developments with CB Auto Services, their No.586 Citroen C1 shared by Max Watt, James Matthews, Michael Harris and David Drinkwater. Last, but not least, Class A success was earned by the Ford Ka of Bradley Performance – the car raced by Nick Dudfield, Stephen Clark and Charles Clark.
DKS Motorsport, the Class D team of Max Haynes, Thomas McEwing and Thomas Gunter, qualified on pole position for the race with their Caterham 7 – a time of 1m38.617 seconds. Eventual overall winners Rob Boston Racing started the race alongside on the front row and after the first seven hours of competition on Saturday, 8th November, the latter had opened a six lap advantage.
In part two of the race, starting at 09.00 on Sunday, the No.43 Lotus Elise S1 further increased its advantage over the Stuart Humphrey Racing Mazda MX5 to eight laps. Track action then ceased for a second time, prior to the start of the Service of Remembrance in the pitlane at 10.35. All drivers, teams, marshals, circuit staff and supporters observed the two-minute silence at 11.00 impeccably.
During the final portion of the race, which resumed at 11.30 and concluded at 15.00, the Rob Boston Racing squad sealed a richly deserved win while Stuart Humphrey Racing took the chequered flag a lap to the good over TrackScotland MINI.
