INTRODUCING LEGACY LAP - MISSION MOTORSPORT GOES INTERACTIVE!

  • Ingenious new fundraising initiative goes live for 2026 Race of Remembrance

  • Military veteran Mark Bradshaw creates ‘Legacy Lap’ for Mission Motorsport

  • Interactive online sponsorship portal at: https://www.legacylap.co.uk/

Mission Motorsport, in partnership with military veteran Mark Bradshaw, is proud to reveal a fantastic new fundraising portal ahead of this November’s Race of Remembrance – we are delighted to introduce ‘Legacy Lap’.

The ingenious, fresh idea to help Mission Motorsport raise vital funds in the run up to the annual Race of Remembrance, at Anglesey Circuit in North Wales, is the brainchild and work of Mark – an Army veteran of well over two decades.

Published live today on the Mission Motorsport website, Legacy Lap – the track that remembers – is an interactive way people can offer sponsorship dedications ahead of this year’s 12-hour race, which takes place across Remembrance Weekend, 7th/8th November.

The idea is to turn a graphic representation of the Anglesey Trac Mon Circuit layout from red to green, by way of donations and dedications. There are three simple stages to helping Mission Motorsport achieve its aim before next month’s event:

Ready – choose your preferred 5-metre plot of track on the red section of the circuit

Set – share a dedication, message of support, or simply leave your own sponsor name

Go – complete your pledge with your donation to leave a lasting dedication

When those three steps have been completed, you will receive an eCertificate from Mission Motorsport to acknowledge your generous and hugely appreciated support for the Forces’ Motorsport Charity’s fundraising drive.

Every penny of sponsorship received will go to helping Mission Motorsport’s vital work through recovery sport with veterans from the Armed Forces community who are wounded, injured or whose lives have been otherwise adversely impacted by military operations.

Mark Bradshaw, the creator of Legacy Lap, experienced a permanent change to his life during an incident on his second tour of Helmand, Afghanistan, in 2010. Bringing very heavy trauma home with him to the UK, he openly states for six years he masked all he was going through.

His third tour of Afghanistan arrived in 2012. Mark believed returning to the theatre of military operations may somehow provide a fix for his difficulties, instead he suffered a snapped Achilles tendon and was medically evacuated back to the UK.

Only in 2016, four years later, was Mark officially diagnosed with severe CPTSD (complex post-traumatic stress disorder). By this time the impact on his life had already been devastating, his marriage had ended and there was an incredibly painful separation from his children.

One day, through his recovery, Mark started to enjoy photography as a pastime – he says it was something positive to anchor onto. Through this, he was introduced to Mission Motorsport and soon became a beneficiary of the charity’s work. Over time, he has become increasingly involved.

After last year’s Race of Remembrance, Mark wanted to come up with a way of giving back to Mission Motorsport. He asked himself, how could someone who couldn’t physically participate in the race itself still be involved in memory of someone important to them – this is how Legacy Lap was born, just Mark, his computer and a desire to give back and help others.

Mark Bradshaw, Legacy Lap Creator:
“Mission Motorsport gave me an understanding of something that is difficult to appreciate from the outside – motorsport may bring people together, but what happens around it is just as important. It’s the people, the friendships, the sense of belonging, and the opportunity to rediscover purposes and confidence.”

Alex Atherton, Managing Director, Mission Motorsport:
"Legacy Lap embodies everything Race of Remembrance stands for: remembrance, community, and the power of people coming together for a greater purpose. Mark has channelled his own experiences and recovery into an initiative that allows anyone, wherever they are, to leave their mark on this year's event. Every section of track sponsored will carry a story, a memory, a tribute, or a message of encouragement. It is a wonderful way for supporters to become part of the race while helping us continue our work with veterans and their families. We could not be prouder to launch Legacy Lap and are deeply grateful to Mark for his generosity, creativity and commitment to supporting others."
