#YourRoR – Rallying the Troops!

Participating in the Biathlon of Foolishness, Anglesey - what are #YourRoR plans?

  • #YourRoR appeal returns for 2021

  • Fundraising Target of £100,000

  • Open invitation for anybody to participate and fundraise in anyway they wish

  • Online Service of Remembrance Sunday 14th November

With Race of Remembrance not long away and getting bigger and better with each year, our fundraising appeal #YourRoR is back.Alongside the annual Race of Remembrance programme,  #YourRoR provides beneficiaries, veterans, serving members of the Armed Forces, companies and supporters of the charity – anybody, the chance to get involved in any way they like by holding their own events helping us to meet our fundraising target of £100,000 and join a special pitlane service of Remembrance

Trying to engage and inspire beneficiaries, supporters and friends of the charity over the Remembrance weekend, 12-14th November 2021#YourRoR is your opportunity to help support the work of Mission Motorsport helping those affected by their time in service and bring communities together as one.

In the spirit of RoR, everything is centred around the Service of RemembranceAll activity will pause at 11:00 for a special online pitlane service featuring military personnel, a bugler, a military padre, and anybody who wishes to attend. Streamed live for all those who cannot be there, the pitlane service allows people the chance to not only pay tribute to those who have lost their lives but to support and reflect on those who remain with us but have been affected by operations, be them service personnel, veterans their families, friends, or whole communities.

One Extraordinary community, one extraordinary cause – what are #YourRoR plans?

Similar to last year’s event, Mission Motorsport is asking supporters to find fun, inclusive challenges or activities that will help the charity to raise funds and commemorate the weekend in their own special way.  Whether a cake sale, a sponsored silence, physical activity, raffle, or auctions anything is possible, it doesn’t need to involve cars or motorsport!

There is however, one stipulation. It must involve fun. With an ambitious target of £100,000 the charity is sending out a call to arms and encouraging anybody who can, to get involved.

For the inaugural #YourRoR campaign last year, the charity saw a whole host of supporters get involved. Jason Fox, presenter of ‘SAS Who Dares Wins’ put Mission Motorsport staff through their paces in a gruelling physical challenge ‘Pain on the Plain’.  Natalie Pinkham in conjunction with beneficiaries and staff hosted ‘An evening with’ whilst beneficiaries and supporters from across the UK held a variety of events. From donating profits of coffee sales, to online gaming challenges, to pushing a car around the field or hiking around an Bavarian Alpine lake, we hope to attract an equally diverse and fun mix of activities and people

James Cameron, CEO at Mission Motorsport said: “This last year has undoubtedly been one of the toughest for not only service charities but the country as a whole.  The remembrance service (with an endurance race attached)  holds a very special place in all our hearts and is particularly poignant this year. With many of our Service personnel, veterans, families and beneficiaries affected by the withdrawal of troops in Afghanistan our pitlane service will allow everybody to come together, commemorate and support each other.

“Challenge yourself and help the charity to continue its work helping wounded, injured and sick service leavers, veterans and their families who have been affected by their service. £100,000 is a massive target, but with the help of our supporters we can do this! In the spirit of Race of Remembrance, are there individuals who want to do something more ridiculous than swim in the Irish sea in November?  Whatever it is, we welcome everyone’s participation and are looking forward to sharing their stories.”

We’re looking forward to hearing #YourRoR plans - email team@missionmotorsport.org, where we will be only too pleased to help and share your events.
